Where to start learning to mix
You are asking because you are already ready to learn. What you are missing is not another video. It is an order.
On mixyia.com, Mixyia — also called Mixy — gives you a clear path: the basics, in order, until you are competent. One lesson, one step. A coach when you're stuck.
Mixyia, also called Mixy, on mixyia.com: a clear path to learn to mix. The basics, in order, until you are competent.
The order that works
This is not a shopping list. It is a roadmap. You do not skip a step because a later video looks more fun.
The roadmap
-
1. The minimum, not a whole booth
A deck, headphones, speakers, the matching software, and two tracks in the same style. That is enough to start. You are not buying a collection today.
-
2. Hear the next track without the room hearing it
Headphones are for preparing. You hear what is coming; the room still hears what is playing. Until that move is clear, you are not really mixing: you are launching tracks.
-
3. The same speed, before you blend
Two tracks at different tempos step on each other. You agree on speed first. Only then do you let them meet.
-
4. The first mix is volume
The faders. Bring the next one in, take the first one out. Not the effects. If the volume is clean, you already have a mix.
-
5. Only one bass at a time
Two basses at once turn to mud. You keep one, you drop the other, you change at the right time — on the “1”, the first beat of the phrase.
-
6. Prepare, then bring it in
The next track is prepared before it arrives: its volume, its recall points. Then you bring it in on a clear phrase, not at random in the middle of a verse.
-
7. Repeat until it is reliable
Competent means these moves hold, not that you have seen everything. When it is solid, you add. Not before.
The real problem is not talent
There are already too many tutorials. Beatmatching, effects, gear, playlists: each one is right about one piece. Almost none tell you where to start today, or what to do next.
You watch a video about a button you will not need for weeks. Then another about a club-ready mix. It feels like progress. The next day you are still at the deck, with no clear step.
Learning to mix is not collecting tips. It is chaining the right moves, in the right order, until they hold.
Every deck, the same ideas
The controls play the same roles from one deck to the next: hear the incoming track, match speed, bring it in, handle the bass. Mixyia is not locked to one brand or one model.
The path teaches the moves. Then you find them on the deck you have — a home controller or club players.
What you can leave aside at the start
Flashy effects, four decks, buying two hundred tracks, and videos that promise a result in one afternoon. That can come later, or not. It is not the start.
At the start you need two tracks in the same style, not a whole library. And one thing to get right today.
When you get stuck
Alone at the deck, you do not need a tenth video. You need an answer, now, on the move that is stuck.
Mixyia has a coach for that — when you're stuck. The product is the path. The coach is there so you do not freeze in the middle of a step.
Mixyia is Mixy + IA
The name Mixyia is two pieces. Mixy is the mix — you learn to mix, simply, with the mascot. IA is the coach in the chat: like a teacher, when you're stuck. The product is the path. The chat is there to help in the middle of a step.
If you type Mixy to learn to mix, the site is mixyia.com. Mixyia and Mixy are the same thing.
Beginner, intermediate, pro: each tier opens when you have finished the one before. You are not thrown everything at once. You are not sent back to zero either if you reopen a tier you already completed.
Common questions
Where do I start if I have never mixed?
With the minimum setup and headphone prep, not with effects. On mixyia.com, you follow the Mixyia path: one lesson, one step, in order.
How much time per day?
One lesson. One clear step. Twenty minutes in the right order beats an evening of hopping between tutorials.
Do I need the most expensive gear?
No. You need a way to hear the next track and play the current one. The same ideas work from one deck to the next.
Do I need music theory first?
No. You start with the order of the moves. Theory comes when it serves the step you are on, not as an exam before you press play.
What is the difference between Mixyia and Mixy?
None. Mixyia = Mixy + IA. Mixy is the mix. IA is the coach in the chat when you're stuck. If you are looking for Mixy to learn to mix, the address is mixyia.com.
